Sri Lanka is like a giant teardrop falling from the southern tip of the vast Indian
Sub-continent. The island is just 350km long and 180km wide. The central part
of the island is dominated by beautiful rugged mountain ranges and boasts hill
country. The highest mountain is Pidurutalagala at 2524 m near Nuwara Eliya and
the longest river is the Mahaweli river.
Climate:
Typically tropical county with distinct dry and wet seasons. Temperatures
in the low lying coastal regions are high all year around (27 C) but they rapidly
fall with altitude and in the hill country (16 C). The highest temperatures are
from March through June while November to January is usually the coolest time
of the year. |
